Most standard residential driveways take about 2–4 working days to excavate, prepare, form, reinforce, pour and finish. Concrete then needs uninterrupted curing time: keep vehicles off for at least 7 days, and longer if we advise it for the mix, weather or expected vehicle weight. Removal of an old driveway, difficult access or major drainage work can add time.

Concrete driveways are often more affordable than exposed aggregate or paved driveways. Preparation, access, design and total area can all affect the final rate, so the best way to understand the price of your future driveway is to arrange a free quote.

Light foot traffic is usually acceptable after 24–48 hours, provided the surface is protected and conditions are suitable. Keep cars off for at least 7 days and avoid heavy vehicles for longer unless we confirm otherwise. Concrete continues gaining strength for about 28 days, so the first few weeks are important for long-term performance.

4 inches. Many factors can impact the required thickness, but typically 4 inches is the thinnest a concrete driveway should be. If no cars or trucks will be on the concrete slab and it is used more by pedestrians, then we will take this into account. If you and your partner or other family members will be parking multiple cars on it, however, then 4 inches with rebar will be the minimum requirement. It all depends on the structural needs of the slab. Don’t stress, we’ll clear all this up during the quote phase.
